What is the Authority?

For me, the Authority is the single most impactful teaching of the Human Design system. In today’s world full of noise and distractions, the guidance to learn how to tune in and listen to ourselves is invaluable. And this is exactly what the Authority of our chart offers. 

What are the gates?

Each number mapped on the chart is called a Gate. The 64 Gates draw from the teachings of the I-Ching - an ancient Eastern text offering insight into the various energetics that make up our human experience in the world. With this, each Gate carries a specific energy. 

Upon first coming across Human Design, its unique language and highly detailed charts can often create more questions than clarity. In this article I will break down the basics of how this system functions and some of the key terms that can help you to understand the foundational elements of the practice.

Embracing the understanding that our bodies are entirely made up of energy (billions and billions and billions of atoms vibrating in connection) is the mindset that best supports us when learning our Human Design. Read on for a brief introduction on the nine Energy Centers of the chart.
